Cities For AllGlobal Compact on Accessible and Inclusive Cities

C4All Global Campaign

In 2016, the Third Global Conference on Housing and Sustainable Development (Habitat III) lead to two key steps towards Cities for All, which were the formal adoption of the New Urban Agenda (NUA) and the launch of the Disability Inclusive and Accessible Urban Development (DIAUD) Network.

The DIAUD Network emerged out of the need for the voices of the global disability community in local and international decision-making processes guiding urban planning and development. The DIAUD’s Network strategic planning and engagements are directly influencing urban development processes, and include the insertion of 15 stand-alone paragraphs in the New Urban Agenda and influencing the Outcome Declaration of the World Urban Forum 9 (WUF9) to include the principles of Accessibility and Universal Design as core aspects of action plans for implementation of the New Urban Agenda.
